During a trip to the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania we saw this magnificent creature in the distance. This elephant was the most beautiful elephant I had ever seen and with the biggest tusks I had ever seen that even the sun’s rays were showing off how beautiful they were by casting a thin beam of light on them. Everything seemed right in the world until I thought of how these elephant are being poached for their ivory by the thousands, lives being slaughtered for accessories. I wanted to capture the feeling that they are alone trying to avoid death by a poacher with only green paper on the mind. To achieve this I tried to compose my photograph at a slightly higher angle and used the lighting to paint the elephant brighter than the background while boosting the radiance of the white of the tusks.
